Everyday Carry: Panasonic RP-HTX Headphones

I like big headphones. I think it’s a style thing. When I see someone wearing big headphones, my first impression is a kind of reverent appreciation, like a nerdy version of guys showing off their cars. I heard about the RP-HTX7s from a blog post at Fort 90 entitled “Fake Girls and Real Headphones”, and my fiancée got them for me as a Christmas gift last year.

They’re comfortable, they sound great, and I dig the style. They’ve also put up with almost a year of being thrown into my bag, so they get points for durability too.

You really can’t underestimate the value of a good pair of headphones in this city. Jackhammers, people talking, babies crying, etc. – it’s enough to drive you crazy. And so it’s great to have some way of distracting yourself, cutting yourself off from the noise and chaos so you can find some peace and quiet.
